Hangin with da boyzZufallers: Brett
Start Location: Vancouver

Parameters: None!
Base Value: 1 = 1000km
Roll: E-5

Being a work-aholic I decided to get away from it all and what better way then to try out “Zufall”. After decided the value for the distance it was then up to the roll of the square dice to see how far I would fly…YES, FLY ! and the diamond dice for my direction. The distance roll came up with the number 5 meaning I needed to start looking at a flight distance of around 5,000 kilometres. The direction dice bought home the letter “E”. After conveying these details against the Maple Leaf map it was Nova Scotia bound for meeeee !

Galiano IslandZufallers: Thor + Nicola
Start Location: Galiano Island (mid-island)
Parameters: West or East (water’s too cold)
Base Value: 1 = 3km
Roll: W-3

My better half and I decided to spend the weekend biking around beautiful Galiano Island. Our first morning of the trip was free of planning so what better way to tempt fate than with the roll of some Zufall dice? We laid out the parameters and gave it a go. The final result- a 9km journey west, almost to one end of the island. Upon inspection of the map we noticed our destination took us to what seemed like a dead end on the map- how intriguing.

Zufallers: Cassia + her date
Start Location: Burnaby
Parameters: None!
Base Value: 2
Roll: NE/3

When I first mentioned the game of Zufall to my date, he was a bit hesitant, but when he finally figured out how the game worked he was in. We decided to keep it simple being it was our first time playing. So we let the dice decide where we were going for dinner.

Rainbow FallsZufallers: Val + Tim
Start Location: Vancouver
Parameters: None! and border line-ups don’t count
Base Value: 1 = 1hr driving
Roll: SW/5

Wow! Big roll – good thing it was a long weekend. We packed all of our camping and hiking gear in the car and did a tru-zufall by rolling the dice straight into the cup holder. We hit the road early on Saturday Morning and quickly discovered that we weren’t the only ones getting and early start. The border live up heading south was 3+ hours – but since we were dealing with driving time, it didn’t affect our final destination, just the length of our day. It gave us some time to check out the map and see where we might end up.

Rainbow FallsZufallers: Val + Tim
Start Location: Vancouver
Roll: NE/3

We decided to pre-zufall because our weekend was to be on a long weekend not during camping season...we just felt better about making a reservation. We set out base value at 100 km. We rolled NE/3 and got our map out. As the crow flies we figured we were pretty close to Lytton, BC. Lytton is in the Fraser Canyon and as it turns out is the province's "hot spot" because it routinely has the hottest temperatures. We had both been in, or around Lytton during previous white water rafting expeditions. Close to Lytton was a little town called Spence's Bridge...and it turned out that it was exactly 305 km from Vancouver - we had our Zufall location!
