Being a work-aholic I decided to get away from it all and what better way then to try out “Zufall”.
After decided the value for the distance it was then up to the roll of the square dice to see how far I would fly…YES, FLY ! and the diamond dice for my direction. The distance roll came up with the number 5 meaning I needed to start looking at a flight distance of around 5,000 kilometres. The direction dice bought home the letter “E”.
After conveying these details against the Maple Leaf map it was Nova Scotia bound for meeeee !
Two weeks later I was on an Air Canada red-eye flight bound for Halifax for whatever I would find, come across and experience in this Maritime province of “New Scotland” being the Latin name for Nova Scotia. Upon arrival I picked up a trusty mid size rental from Avis then together with my laptop armed with GPS mapping software it was time to hit the road. Nova Scotia is certainly a picturesque and historic province which offers an amazing variety of landscapes from the Kejimkujik National Park, Low key attractions such as the Lady Venessa fisheries exhibit in Digby, home of the worlds largest scallop fishing community through to the historic Swiss-German township of Lunnenburg settled in 1753 and now a world heritage site. Over all I covered 1,100kms of driving west along the Avageline Trail to Yarmouth before heading East along the Lighthouse Route taking in a kaleidoscope of winding roads, dense forests, ragged coastlines and many quaint villages….of course Halifax is a pretty cool place to spend some time in as well taking in the Maritime Museum, Citadel fortress and Fairview cemetery where the Titanic victims are buried. So if you love adventures, enjoy quality seafood, appreciate the etchings of nature then I truly recommend Nova Scotia and the game that got me there…ZUFALL !!!!!!
