When I first mentioned the game of Zufall to my date, he was
a bit hesitant, but when he finally figured out how the game
worked he was in. We decided to keep it simple being it was our
first time playing. So we let the dice decide where we were
going for dinner.
I rolled NE/3, which took us 6km NE of Imperial & Waverly in
Burnaby. When I looked on a map it meant we would end up smack
in the middle of Deer Lake Park. My date picked me up on his
motorcycle and after hitting 2 dead-ends my date seemed a little
frustrated and said, “I have no idea where I’m going”.
“That’s the whole point”, I told him.
We
finally managed to get around the dead-end streets and found
ourselves at the Hart House at Deer Lake Park, a beautiful
heritage home that was converted into a restaurant and is right
next to Deer Lake. “Sweet!” was my first thought. I rolled my
way to a nice fancy dinner with a beautiful setting, but I don’t
think my date felt the same way. After hearing several comments
like: “this place is expensive!” and footing most of the bill
myself, I decided I wouldn’t be talking to him again. I would
definitely play Zufall again, though… just with a different
partner.
